Footed handkerchief bowl

This delicate little handkerchief bowl boasts a beaded ruffled rim, zipper and sawtooth decorations, an 18-point flower on the bottom, and three ornate feet. It stands 2" tall at the bottom of the ruffles and 2-1/2" tall at their tops. Rim is 5-1/4" in diameter. Very good condition, with no nicks, chips, or cracks, and only minor scratching, but sadly,  the tip of one foot has chipped off. This does not affect its stability and is barely noticeable. Large block quilt bowl

This large heavy bowl has a graduated raised block quilt or diamond pattern that starts as a border around the bottom and then curves around the bottom edge to go all the way up the sides, ending in a scalloped rim. Standing 3-1/2" tall, this bowl is 8" in diameter at its widest point, with an inside rim diameter of 7-1/2". Great size for a centerpiece filled with flowers, a salad bowl or even a small punch bowl. Excellent condition with no nicks, chips, or cracks. Normal usage scuffing on the interior bottom. Pink depression glass candle holder

This 3" tall pretty pink depression glass piece does double duty as a flip-over candle holder or even a candy dish. Set it on its 4" diameter sawtooth edged end and you have a candle holder that would take a 3/4" taper. Set it on its 2" diameter sawtooth edged end and you have a sweet little candy dish or a holder for a larger candle. How versatile! All over quilted diamond pattern with two rows of hobnails. Unmarked and in perfect condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, or scratches. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Arcoroc salad bowl

This interestingly shaped glass salad bowl stands 3-3/4" high with a 7-3/4" diameter rim and 4" diameter base. The flat bottom features a 16-point star. A 1-1/2" angled section with graduated diamonds then leads to straight sides with alternating long triangular points and shorter petal points. Interior bottom says “Arcoroc France” in raised letters. Perfect condition with no chips, nicks, cracks, or scratches. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Colorful banded salad bowl

This attractive 9-3/4" diameter x 4-3/4" deep straight-sided bowl is decorated with two colorful bands encircling its sides. The top one is purple, and the bottom one is cranberry. Looks rather '60's to me, agreed? Large enough to be used as a punch bowl. Unmarked. Perfect condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, or scratches. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Antique covered candy dish

This regal looking antique covered candy dish is a wonderful example of the less-is-more school of thought in pressed glass design. No overwhelmingly busy patterning here, just lovely lines and what looks like an elegantly simple necklace of four long beaded strands gracing the lid, with four matching strands on the sides of the bowl, which also features a rim of double scallops alternating with single rounded points. Pedestal foot is 4" in diameter, bowl is about 2-1/2" deep with a 5-3/4" diameter rim, and the piece stands 8" high when lidded. Unmarked as to maker. No cracks or scratches, but one of the scallops on the bowl rim has chipped away and there is usage roughness all around the lid’s interior bottom rim, plus one small chip. Still perfectly usable and a truly elegant, stately display piece. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Huge antique sugar bowl

Merciful heavens! This has got to be the largest sugar bowl I’ve ever seen! It stands a full 7" tall when lidded, has a 4-1/8" diameter mouth, 3-1/4" diameter base, and measures 6" from handle to handle. Definitely the Papa Bear size! The bowl has numerous air bubbles and wavy lines in its thick glass and a long manufacturer’s flaw at the bottom that looks like a crack but is imbedded in the glass and can’t be felt on either the exterior or interior. The top rim has two small indentations that are either manufacturer’s flaws or very old nicks that have long since lost their sharpness. The interior bottom has a ding and hairline crack, neither of which goes through to the exterior. The bowl is somewhat cloudy in appearance, either from age or use scuffage, and the glass has a yellowish cast. The domed lid has numerous nicks and small chips at its bottom rim. Obviously this is a very old, heavy antique piece that has been well used during its long life, but is still quite attractive and certainly substantial. (Click on picture for more images.) Heavy ribbed votive

This little votive with an exterior featuring eight deep vertical ribs is amazingly heavy for its diminutive size. It’s just a shade over 2-1/2" high x 2-1/2" in diameter at its widest point, and 1-5/8" in diameter at its mouth. The glass is very thick and has a textured feel, particularly on the exterior. Unmarked and in perfect condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, or scratches. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Crystal candle stick

This clear glass candle stick stands 4" tall with diameters of 1-3/4" at its rim and 3-1/4" at its base. It would hold a 5/8" taper. The hexagonal design of the gracefully curved stem produces a faceted prismatic effect that refracts light well. Unmarked and in perfect condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, or scratches. Antique Bryce Higbee vase

This is a stunning antique swung glass (or stretched glass) vase produced by Bryce Higbee & Co. in the Cut Log (a/k/a Ethol) pattern ca. 1889. Starting in 1850, two brothers by the name of Bryce founded a series of glass companies in Pittsburgh, PA: Bryce, McKee & Co. (1850-1854); Bryce, Richards & Co. (1854-1865); Bryce Brothers (1882-1891), and Bryce Higbee & Co. (1879-1900), with an additional Bryce Brothers in Mt. Pleasant (1896-1905). It was the artisans at Bryce Higbee & Co. who made these tall swung glass vases, always hand finishing their beautiful sloping scalloped tops so that no two are exactly alike. The front of this one stands 16" high, while its back is 16-3/4" tall. Beginning with a round 3-5/8" diameter base, the bottom 2" of the vase is heavily patterned, above which eight deep miters alternate with eight concave panels, all of which swoop and curve upward, with the panels ultimately flaring out to become 1" wide arches that end 1/4" below the 1/4" thick scallops of the 3-3/4" x 4" mouth. Considering its antique status, this beautiful vase is in excellent condition, with one small shallow chip at its base rim, a few fleabites on two of the miter edges about half way up the vase, and slight scratching on the outside edge of one of the top scallops. Truly a magnificent addition to anyone’s collection of antique glass. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.
