Early View-Master black Model C viewer
This it one of the classic black View-Master Model C viewers produced by Sawyer’s from 1946-1955. It’s made of black Bakelite with an aluminum advance lever on the side and has the “stair-step” eyepiece design. Carries the raised Sawyer’s script and View-Master name in block letters, as well as both the U.S. and Canadian patent numbers, underneath which it says “Other Pat. Pend., Made in U.S.A., Portland-Ore.” This particular viewer is one of the earliest Model C’s produced prior to 1950. How do we know? Because its logo and patent information is within a “file tab” outline. Later Model C’s have no outline. This viewer is in virtually pristine condition with no cracks or scratches, and still works perfectly. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

View-Master black Model C viewer - aluminum lever
This it one of the later black View-Master Model C viewers produced by Sawyer’s from 1946-1955. It’s made of black Bakelite with an aluminum advance lever on the side and has the “stair-step” eyepiece design. View-Master Model C box - version 2 lid
This View-Master Model C box was produced by Sawyer’s sometime between 1946-1950 to hold the Model C viewer that was sold from 1946-1955. However, this box’s lid is the second lid variation for these boxes, dating it to pre-1950 when the third lid variation appeared. The 4-1/2" x 3-3/4" x 3-1/4" tall box is constructed of cardboard encased in a textured chocolate brown paper sheath. The lid’s sheath is textured silver paper printed in green and chocolate brown. It’s those straight green stripes at the top, as well as the extension of the View-Master banner to the very edge of the left lid flap, that identify this lid as the second variation for the Model C viewer box. The lid’s interior is printed in black and contains a subject index of available reels. As you might expect with a cardboard box that’s over 60 years old, this one has quite a few exterior scuffs and both of the lid’s top corners are split, but all printing is intact both inside and out and the box is still perfectly usable. View-Master Model C box - version 3 lid
This View-Master Model C box is exactly the same size and shape as the one listed immediately above, but its lid with wavy green lines instead of straight lines and a View-Master banner with a ribbon edge that stops short of the edge of the left lid flap identify it as the version 3 box produced by Sawyer’s between 1950-1956. The “Stereoscope” script is also different from the earlier version, there’s additional trade mark information on the lid’s lower flap, and the interior print color is dark brown instead of black. There are surprisingly few scuffs on this box, but both corners of the lid’s right flap are split and some of the interior printing has rubbed off, although everything is still readable and this box is still perfectly usable. View-Master Model C Stereo Set box
This 7-5/8" x 4-1/2" x 4-3/8" tall View-Master box was produced by Sawyer’s between 1950-1956 to hold a “Stereo Set” consisting of a Model C viewer, a separate light attachment, and several reels. This box’s construction, sheathing, and lid design are substantially the same as the version 3 box listed immediately above, but this lid has no interior printing and the box interior is segmented into two compartments, a larger one for the viewer and light attachment, and a smaller one for the reels. There are surprisingly few scuffs on this box, but the wraparound chocolate brown sheathing has become unglued at one place inside and one piece is missing. No splits to the lid and all printing is intact. If you are lucky enough to own both a Model C viewer and a Model C light attachment, this is the box for you! (Click on picture for more images.) View-Master Model E box
This View-Master Model E box was produced by Sawyer’s between 1956-1960 to hold the Model E viewer. The 5" x 4" x 3-1/4" tall box is constructed of cardboard encased in a white paper sheath with elaborate black and white printing. The top 2/3 of the sheath contains numerous drawings depicting people, places, and animals, as well as Little Miss Muffet and Little Red Riding Hood, all featured in various View-Master reels. The sheath’s bottom third is a black band with words and the View-Master logo in white. The lid’s red paper sheath is printed with white stripes, graphics in red, white, and black, and both white and black text. We have two of these Model E boxes and price is for each. Both are in substantially equal vintage condition with scuffing at exterior edges and corners, but all printing and graphics are intact. One lid has a split at its top left corner, and the other has a split at its bottom right corner. Both boxes are still perfectly usable. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.
