Boulder Dam - beige reel - hand-lettered
 View-Master Reel 11: Boulder Dam, Nevada. This is a rare View-Master reel produced by Sawyer’s between 1941-1944, the period during which reel design was in transition. Reels were dark beige, at least on their fronts, still with the single notch at the top, but with no dark blue ring around the filmstrip. During this period some reel backs were dark blue, some were white, and some were the same dark beige (often called “buff” by present-day collectors) as the front. The style of the hand-lettered reel ID information in the center of the reels also changed from semicircular to straight across, although the scene descriptions below the film remained semicircular. This reel has a dark beige front and white back. It has one notch at the top and is hand-lettered, the reel ID information in the center being straight across, but the scene descriptions being semicircular with no positioning numbers. It obviously carries the Sawyer’s name, but has no copyright date. Comes in a Sawyer’s blue and white sleeve. Tell a friend.

Damon’s World of Desserts
This is one of the commercial View-Master reels produced for various businesses and industries. This one is for Damon’s World of Desserts, a family restaurant chain based in Ohio. Reel is typeset and titled “Damon’s World of Desserts – Where Eating Out is Always an Event!” No identifying information as to which View-Master entity produced this reel, but if the 1998 underneath the reel’s title is a copyright date, the reel would have been produced after the merger of Mattel, Inc, Tyco, and View-Master Ideal Group in 1997. This is one of the demonstration reels produced by Sawyer’s, and later by GAF, that were sold with viewers or given by dealers to customers as promotional items. Reel is typeset, carries no identifying information as to which View-Master entity produced it, and has no copyright date. Ripplewood Richly Textured Plywood Paneling
This is one of the commercial View-Master reels produced for various businesses and industries. This one is Reel 3 for Ripplewood Richly Textured Plywood Paneling, implying that there must also have been a Reel 1 and Reel 2. Ripplewood was a Georgia-Pacific line of paneling and the seven scenes show its application in a living room, bedroom, etc. (By the way, Ol’ Swaphos’ mama loved this stuff and the original paneling in the family room of the house they built in the early 1950's was turquoise Ripplewood – I kid you not!)
