Red and white square trinket box

This pretty 2-1/2" square white porcelain trinket box has an all-over red and white geometric design on its sides and the top of its lid, with a red band around the lid’s edge. It stands 1-1/2" tall. The bottom is marked with a square red oriental cartouch and has a blue and white paper label saying “Made in Japan”. Perfect condition: no chips, cracks, crazing, or discoloration. Nippon powder jar

This is a beautiful little hand-painted Nippon powder/trinket jar that would look lovely on any lady’s dresser. It is white porcelain with a cream overlay topped by white flowers with gold edging, leaves, and vines. The jar is 2-1/2" in diameter at its widest point and stands a mere 1" high by itself and 1-3/4" high with lid. Its bottom carries the green Nippon M in a laurel wreath, with “Hand Painted” above and “Nippon” below. There is a serious chip at the mouth of the jar that barely shows when the jar is lidded and doesn’t show at all when viewed from the front or sides. (Click on picture for more images.) Pair of Art Nouveau trinket boxes

This pair of lovely Art Nouveau glass trinket boxes are made of high-quality pressed glass with pewter lids. The long slender oval “box” is a shade over 4" long, nearly 2" wide, and stands 1-3/4" high when lidded. Graced with a 24-point starburst on its bottom, the glass features hobstars, fans, zipper cuts, stippled diamonds, and deep sweeping miters. One tiny nick at the exterior rim and slight roughness on the interior rim. The pewter lid has raised flowers and vines around its outer edge and a faint incised design in the center that could be a monogram, but might simply be additional pretty decoration. It has developed a lovely patina and has no dents or dings. The smaller circular “box” has diameters of 1-1/4" at its rim and 1-3/4" at its widest point and stands 2" high when lidded. It features four sets of vertical zipper cuts interspersed with four sets of triple circles that form four little feet thanks to the deeply cut “x” on the bottom. Slight roughness on the interior rim. The pewter lid has three raised flowers with flowing stems and foliage. Ornate brass trinket box

This is a lovely and highly ornate brass trinket box with hinged lid, the top of which contains a 2-3/4" square beveled glass insert surrounded by a beaded and sculptured rim. The box sides and four graceful feet have an all-over floral and scroll motif, and the unmarked bottom has a large 8-point snowflake impression covered with additional smaller florals and scrolls. The interior is lined with gold velvet and has a soft pillow bottom. Box measures 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" x 3-5/8" tall. Perfect condition with no dings, dents, or tears to the lining. Grand piano musical jewelry box

This is an attractive musical jewelry box in the shape of a grand piano. The top and bottom pieces are of clear acrylic and the piano body is deep gray acrylic. The top piece features a gold musical scale and notes, and the three legs are goldtone metal. When you open the lid, the music box plays the theme from Cats. The jewelry box portion in front of the music box mechanism has a red velvet bottom lining. Piece measures 5-7/8" x 4-3/4" x 2-3/4" tall when closed. Bottom contains the key to wind up the music box and is marked “Made in Hong Kong,” while the music box mechanism is marked “Sankyo Japan.” Very good condition with no nicks or scratches to the acrylic, and the music box works perfectly. Footed egg trinket box

This beautiful little footed egg trinket box is 2-1/4" in diameter and stands 3-3/4" tall. The white porcelain egg features numerous pastoral scenes of farm animals and people who look like they came straight out of colonial times, if not earlier. Two strips of gold tone metal trim encircle the egg, and a little flower latch on the front allows the top half to open on its hinge in back. The three little feet are also gilded.
