Geneva No. 8 sad iron

This is an antique (late 1800's) Geneva sad iron. The top of the handle is marked “Geneva” and the top of the iron portion has what’s left of a large raised star with an 8 inside it. The edges of the star have worn down during the past century. The iron is 5-3/4" x 3-1/2" x 5" high to the top of its metal handle. Very heavy. Solid black, despite looking grayish in the photos thanks to the flash from the camera. Used condition, with pitting and rust marks present. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Price: $50.00 + s/h and insurance

Ober No. 5 turquoise sad iron

This antique sad iron is marked “No. 5, Ober, Pat. Mar. 1872" on its top. It measures 6" x 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" high to the top of its metal handle. I have no idea whether the turquoise and pink paint is original or was added some time later, but it’s obviously been there a very long time because it has worn off in many places. Very heavy. Used condition, with rust marks present, plus old scratches on the sole. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Price: $50.00 + s/h and insurance

Ober No. 7 sad iron

This old black sad iron is marked “Ober” on its top, with a “7" above. It measures 5-3/4" x 3-5/8" x 5" high to the top of its metal handle. At some point during its long life, someone decided to “decorate” its heel end by affixing what appears to be part of an old newspaper with stock quotes on it, including Sears Roebuck, which apparently closed at 31-3/4 that particular day! Very heavy. Used condition, with pitting and a few rust marks present, plus an odd 3/8" x 3/4" “growth” on the bottom that I haven’t a clue what it is. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Price: $50.00 + s/h and insurance

Sad iron w/ swivel handle

The metal handle of this heavy old unmarked sad iron swivels 90 degrees and has a faded green leaf design on gold that looks almost like an old decal. Parts of it have rubbed completely away. The turquoise paint also has worn off in many places, particularly on the sole and the underside of the handle. The iron is 6" x 3-1/2" x 5" high to the top of its handle. Very heavy. Used condition, with pitting, scratching, and rust marks present. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Price: $50.00 + s/h and insurance
