Ornate grand piano music box

This vintage silvertone metal music box with red velveteen lining has the shape of an ornate grand piano. The top features a cherub in the center, surrounded by extensive filigree work, with the red lining peeking through. An intricate floral design wraps around the sides of the piano, and its three legs have a crosshatch pattern. When you raise the lid, the music box plays Lara’s Theme from Dr. Zhivago (also known as “Somewhere My Love.”) Measures 4" x 3-1/2" x 2-1/4" tall when closed. Red-lined well behind the music box mechanism is large enough to hold rings or a small necklace. Unmarked bottom contains the key to wind up the music box. Great vintage condition with no dings or dents. Metal has developed a lovely patina over the decades and has the look of soft pewter. Music box works perfectly, but the clear plastic piece inside the piano that sits atop the music box mechanism to protect it from dust needs to be reglued in place. Grand piano musical jewelry box

This is an attractive musical jewelry box in the shape of a grand piano. The top and bottom pieces are of clear acrylic and the piano body is deep gray acrylic. The top piece features a gold musical scale and notes, and the three legs are goldtone metal. When you open the lid, the music box plays the theme from Cats. The jewelry box portion in front of the music box mechanism has a red velvet bottom lining. Piece measures 5-7/8" x 4-3/4" x 2-3/4" tall when closed. Bottom contains the key to wind up the music box and is marked “Made in Hong Kong,” while the music box mechanism is marked “Sankyo Japan.” Very good condition with no nicks or scratches to the acrylic, and the music box works perfectly. Chopin grand piano music box

This is a vintage wooden grand piano music box with a lacquered finish. The hinged lid features a highly detailed medallion of a very young Chopin, flanked by two “scraps” of sheet music. Keyboard cover lifts up. Music box plays “Stardust.” Wind-up key is on the bottom. Piece measures 6-3/4" x 5-1/4" x 3-1/2" tall when closed. Interior has a blue silk lining and the well in front of the music box mechanism is large enough to hold rings or small necklaces. Music box mechanism is by Fuji, and the original label on the bottom of the piano says “Fuji” and “tristesse - chopin.” Good vintage condition with several scratches to the lacquer finish appropriate to its age. Animated swans music box

If you’re looking for a truly unique music box, this one is about as unique as it gets! It’s a large grand piano made of shiny ebony acrylic with brass tone pedals and gold tone ball feet. Most of the top is slightly indented, textured, decorated with two sprays of colorful roses, and holds two removable white swans. When the music box plays, the swans twirl and “swim” around the top while the piano keys move up and down as if the piano were really playing! You can also remove the swans, open the lid, support it with the flip-up support rod, and lift up the music rack. Music box plays the “Blue Danube Waltz” by pushing the little “on” button at the end of a detachable wire whose head plugs into the bottom of the piano. Runs on two C batteries accessed by a flip-up lid on the bottom that’s marked “Chain Fong Made in China.” Piece measures 9-1/2" x 8-3/4" x 5-1/2" tall when closed. The music box has an amazing sound, not at all “tinkly” like most music boxes. Very good condition with some scratching where the hinged top has come into contact with the piano side, and some white scuff marks on the top undoubtedly made by the energetically swimming swans. Reuge player piano music box

This is a lovely vintage wooden music box by Reuge, the legendary Swiss company that has been making music boxes and clock mechanisms since 1865. This one is an old upright player piano with a hinged top and sliding door to view the “music roll” music box mechanism. When you lift up the keyboard cover, you see the painted keys and the music box plays “The Anniversary Waltz.” Wind-up key is on the back. Underside of the hinged top has its original label that says “Reuge,” “The Anniversary Waltz,” and “Swiss Musical Movement.” Piece measures 6-1/2" x 2-3/4" x 5-1/4" tall when closed. Good vintage condition with some scratching on the legs and one side that give it character and make it look like a miniature version of an authentic vintage player piano!
