Derby Towne pie plate

This is an amazingly heavy (nearly 4-1/2 lbs!) Louisville Stoneware handpainted pie plate, presumably for baking a Derby Towne Pie, since the recipe – which sounds absolutely yummy – is printed right on the pie plate’s interior! Inside top diameter is indeed 8", just perfect for the deep-dish 8" pie shell into which the fixin’s go for baking. 1-3/8" deep exterior lip is banded in blue and features alternating upturned horseshoes and race horses and jockeys, also in blue. Inside the bottom’s 7-3/8" unglazed base ring is a glazed circle containing the famous Louisville Stoneware artist palette logo. Can’t you just imagine serving authentic Derby Towne Pie in this marvelous pie plate at your next Kentucky Derby party? Perfect condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, or scratches. Double horseshoe ice bucket

The front of this waaay cool – no pun intended – Louisville Stoneware ice bucket features a pair of entwined upturned horseshoes handpainted in shades of mottled gray. Top and base are rimmed in gray bands and strings of embossed beads. Standing an impressive 6-3/4" tall, its interior is 6" deep, its rim is slightly over 6-1/2" in diameter and its pedestal foot flares out to the 5-3/8" diameter base. Concave bottom carries the famous Louisville Stoneware artist palette logo and is dated 2006, making it one of the last pieces to sport this distinctive logo since both the company ownership and logo changed one year later. The bottom also says this piece is oven, microwave, freezer, and dishwasher safe, so the Louisville Stoneware folks evidently envisioned it as a multi-purpose serving piece. Actually, it would make an outstanding vase, too!  Perfect condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, or scratches. Be sure to see our coordinating pair of Embossed Running Horse julep cups.
