Set of 4 1974 Kentucky Derby mugs
This is a set of four Louisville Stoneware handpainted coffee mugs created for the centennial Kentucky Derby in 1974. Rimmed in soft shades of brown with additional brown on the handles and brown and rust stripes at the bottoms, the front of each mug features a brown horse’s head outlined in black, behind which are trees and grass in shades of green and deep blue, all on an ivory white background. Unglazed bottoms say “Made in Kentucky, U.S.A. by Louisville Stoneware Co., 1974, year of the 100th Kentucky Derby.” Mugs stand 4" tall with a diameters of 3-1/4" and measure 4-1/2" across at their handles. These beautiful mugs are in perfect condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, or scratches. 1981 Kentucky Derby mug
Created for the 1981 Kentucky Derby, this attractive Louisville Stoneware handpainted coffee mug features four race horses running around its entire exterior, spurred on by their jockeys dressed in colorful silks. Painted in shades of brown, rust, green, yellow, and blue, the cup has top and bottom bands of blue, with additional blue on the handle. Inside the unglazed base ring, the bottom says “Made in Kentucky U.S.A. by Louisville Stoneware Co., 1981, Year of the 107th Kentucky Derby.” Mug stands 4" tall with a diameter of 3-1/4" and measures 4-1/2" across at the handle. 1981 Kentucky Derby cup and saucer
This is a cup and saucer created by Louisville Stoneware for the 1981 Kentucky Derby. The saucer and the front of the cup feature a racehorse and jockey painted in pleasing shades of brown, yellow, and blue. Cup back says “107th Kentucky Derby.” Both the cup and saucer are rimmed in shades of brown, with additional brown on the cup handle. Bottoms of both pieces say “Made in Kentucky U.S.A. by Louisville Stoneware Co., 1081, Year of the 107th Kentucky Derby. Cup stands 3-1/4" tall with a diameter of 2-7/8" and measures 4" across at its handle. Saucer is 4-3/4" in diameter and 3/4" tall. 1999 Kentucky Derby mug
This extra large handpainted mug was created by Louisville Stoneware Co. for the 1999 Kentucky Derby. Standing 4-3/4" tall with a diameter of 3-1/4", it measures 4-1/2" across at its large handle. Deep blue rims the top and bottom, as well as the entire exterior of the handle. Front features the Churchill Downs grandstand, including the twin spires, done in shades of brown, orange, yellow, and blue. Back says “125th Running of the Kentucky Derby” also in blue. Bottom is stamped with the Louisville Stoneware artist palette logo and also says “Made in Kentucky,” as well as “Officially licensed by Churchill Downs.” To the right is a blue floser, and the base itself bears the impression “Made in U.S.A.” Unglazed base ring. 2002 Kentucky Derby mug
