VISA Triple Crown glass
This is a VISA Triple Crown glass that is the exact same size as Kentucky Derby mint julep glasses, being 5-1/4" tall x 2-3/4" in diameter. VISA sponsored the Triple Crown Challenge from 1997-2007, offering a $5 million bonus to the owner(s) of any horse winning the Triple Crown. During that 10-year period, six horses entered the final leg of the three-race series with a chance to win the bonus – Smarty Jones (2004), Funny Cide (2003), War Emblem (2002), Charismatic (1999), Real Quiet (1998), and Silver Charm (1997) – but failed to win the Belmont Stakes, so VISA got a full decade of great publicity without having to pay the bonus! This glass is done in blue and gold (VISA’s colors) on a frosted midsection. Front carries the VISA Triple Crown logo of a racehorse and jockey with crown above and says “VISA Triple Crown, Kentucky Derby - Preakness Stakes - Belmont Stakes,” below which is the VISA logo. Back lists the 11 Triple Crown winners to date and the years in which they won. This glass is in perfect condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, or scratches. There’s no indication of what year it was produced, but obviously it had to be between 1997-2007. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.
