HMQ Nutcracker set
 This is one of the classic HMQ nutcracker sets consisting of a spring-jointed nickel-plated solid steel nutcracker and four nut picks. The HMQ stands for Henry Marcus Quackenbush (1847-1933), a rather prolific inventor, who patented his nutcracker in 1913. (He had invented the extension ladder in 1867 and an air pistol in 1871, the year he established H. M. Quackenbush Co.) When he died, his family incorporated the company as H. M. Quackenbush Inc. and continued to manufacture and sell products, including these nutcracker sets, until at least 1976. This nutcracker is 5" long and measures 4-1/8" across in the open position. The top 1-1/4" inside surface of each leg has a series of notches to grip a nut while you squeeze the handles together to crack it. Top crosspiece carries the HMQ logo. The four nut picks are 4-3/4" long, ending in curved points for digging the nutmeats out of your freshly cracked nuts. We have two of these 5-piece sets and price is for each set. Wood handled ice cream scoop
 This is an old-fashioned non-mechanical metal ice cream scoop with attached wood handle. Measures 7-1/2" long and scoop portion is 1-3/4" x 2-1/4" x 1-1/2" deep. Great vintage condition. Metal scoop is darkened with age but has no damage. Wood handle has one hairline crack at the top where the wood attaches to the metal. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Noodle cutter
 If you’ve had a hankering to make your own noodles, here’s just the gadget for you. It’s a 7" long white plastic roller whose 2-3/4" wide curved top contains nine steel blades that rotate as you push the roller to cut your noodle dough into 1/8" strips. Adjustable cheese slicer
 This is an old 2-piece metal cheese slicer that measures 6" long x 4-3/4" wide. The wire “blade” is 4" wide. A brass screw allows the roller piece to slide so you can adjust slice thickness from 3/16" to 9/16". Pretty cool! Used vintage condition, but still fully functional with no dents or dings. Wood handled potato peeler
 This waaay vintage wood handled potato peeler measures 6" long. Its 3-3/8" long wood handle attaches to a 2-1/2" long swiveling curved steel peeler with a 1-3/4" cutting surface. Steel shows surface rusting but is still very sharp. No splits or cracks to the wood. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

DeVault vegetable peeler/grater
 This is a DeVault arrowhead vegetable peeler and grater. Ralph Pulliam DeVault (1879-1968) and his son invented the DeVault Potato Peeler during the depression and went on to invent and patent additional kitchen gadgets, including this vegetable peeler/grater in February of 1938. Made of steel, this gadget measures 2" x 4-3/4". The swiveling curved steel peeler has a 1-3/4" cutting surface and the handle can be used as a grater/shredder. Marked “S&S” in a parallelogram with “DeVault Pat. 2106796 U.S.A.” underneath. Good vintage condition with a few surface rust spots on the handle, but none on the still sharp peeler. Arrowhead vegetable peeler/grater
This arrowhead vegetable peeler and grater is exactly like the one listed immediately above except that this one is not marked as to maker. Made of steel, this gadget measures 2" x 4-3/4". The swiveling curved steel peeler has a 1-3/4" cutting surface and the handle can be used as a grater/shredder.  This is a metal potato peeler that measures 6-1/2" long. Nicely curved 3-3/4" handle attaches to swiveling 2-3/4" peeler with 1-3/4" cutting surface. Victorian mother of pearl corkscrew
 Whoa! You’ve seen ’em in bone, you’ve seen ’em in tusk, but have you ever seen one of these Victorian corkscrews in mother of pearl? Well, now you have, and this is it! The mother of pearl piece, in the shape of a curved tusk, is 2-7/8" long. Its blunt end features a sterling silver cap with a filagree inner edge and is stamped “sterling” on the end. An additional ornate sterling silver triangular piece wraps itself around the bottom of the tusk and holds the 2" metal corkscrew in place. We’ve made no attempt to clean or polish this piece because the patina is quite lovely as is and you may prefer to leave it alone. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Lobster bottle opener
 This neat old cast iron figural bottle opener is in the shape of a highly detailed lobster. He measures 4-1/8" long x 2" wide. Still a shiny black color. The underside of his tail is marked “EMIG” and “1539" and the underside of one of his claws carries an “8" or a “B”, I’m not sure which. Almost perfect condition, with a few tiny fleabites on the back and the interior of the bottle opener portion where the base metal shows through. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Dalmatian glasses caddy
  If you’re like me and need to keep a pair of reading glasses in the kitchen in order to see that tiny print on boxes, recipe cards, etc., you’ll love this cute black and white ceramic dalmatian who’s ready to come, sit, stay on your counter, safely holding your “kitchen glasses” so they don’t get lost! She’s 3" tall, 4-1/4" wide, and 2-1/2" deep. Of course she’s a she – look at those eyelashes! Right now she’s holding my glasses, and you can’t have them, but she just wanted to show you how efficient she looks with glasses. Who knows -- she might even have dinner waiting for you when you get home! There’s an impressed mark on the bottom that might be “atnel”, as well as the black initials SK. Mint condition.
