Indiana Glass powder box
This is a lovely vintage blue carnival glass powder box in the Smocking pattern introduced by the Indiana Glass Co. in the 1950's. Today it would serve equally well as a covered candy dish. In true carnival glass fashion, the blues flash iridescent purple, pink, green, and gold in the light. The dish is 6" in diameter and 2-1/8" deep. Its unmarked bottom features 40 faceted rays that emanate out from the center point. When lidded, the piece is 6" tall to the top of its large 8-sided finial. Near perfect condition with no chips or cracks, but one tiny nick at the underside edge of the dish that is not visible from the top or side. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Purple Grape and Cable shallow dish
This is a beautiful vintage 9" diameter shallow carnival glass dish with rounded sawtooth edge that stands 1-1/8" tall on its 3-1/2" diameter base. The design may be what’s known as the Variant Grape and Cable pattern because the tendrils do go down into the otherwise plain center of the dish. The colors are spectacularly iridescent purples, blues, pinks, and gold. There is one circular manufacturer’s flaw near the edge and several thin squiggly lines that also appear to be manufacturer’s flaws rather than scratches or cracks because the finish is not damaged where they appear. In just the right light you can see what appears to be scuffing to the finish at various points near the edge, but these are completely smooth to the touch. Turning the dish over reveals a solid deep purple base with highly iridescent flutes raying out to the edge, again in those gorgeous purples, blues, pinks, and gold. More thin squiggly lines, much longer than on the face side of the dish, but again, the finish is not damaged where they appear. There is a 1-1/2" tacky place along one edge where a piece of tape must have been affixed many years ago. It comes off with light fingernail scratching, but I was loathe to scratch around too much for fear of damaging the finish. Base is unmarked. All sawtooth edges are intact. No chips or cracks anywhere. (Click on picture for more images.)

Marigold grape bowl
This is a vintage 7" diameter carnival glass bowl with a scalloped rim. It stands 3" tall on its 3" diameter base. The grape design is different on the inside and outside of the bowl. Outside, the grapes, leaves, and vines are on a stippled background, with double arches below, and exactly matching, the scalloped rim. The inside has a different grape, leaf, and vine pattern on a stippled background, and much larger triple arches separated by spiraled ribs. The outside color is iridescent marigold, which flashes in reds, pinks, and gold. The inside color is graduated from a deep highly iridescent orange for the arches, which flash in reds, pinks, greens, and even blues, to a lighter marigold with less iridescence for the stippled portion, to an almost clear glass for the largest bunch of grapes at the bottom of the bowl. Base is unmarked and has some usage scratching, as well as two slight indentations on the edge that appear to be manufacturer’s flaws. All three mold seams are slightly rough at the base rim. Very tiny chips at the exterior edge of some of the rim scallops that in no way detract from its appearance. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Marigold frog
This is a vintage 8-hole marigold carnival glass frog that measures 2-1/2" in diameter x 1-1/2" tall. There is a v-shaped slit at the outside of one of the holes that appears to be a manufacturer’s flaw since it is not sharp and the finish isn’t damaged. There are several additional manufacturer’s flaws, including two vertical marks descending from the outer edge of one of the holes, a diagonal line going from top to bottom of one side of the frog, and a couple of shorter vertical lines descending from the top rim. The bottom is unmarked, and all eight holes are rough to the touch on the bottom surface. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.

Marigold grape and band mug
I have seen this marigold carnival glass mug listed as the Vintage Banded pattern produced by Dugan in the early 1900's. There are indeed bands of diagonal lines both above and below the grapes, leaves, and tendrils that encircle the mug, which stands 3-1/4" tall and has a top diameter of 3-1/4" and a base diameter of 2-7/8". Apparently this pattern is found only on these mugs and the much rarer tumblers and pedestal water pitcher. This mug is in very good condition considering its age, with only one small chip on the underside of its base rim and normal usage scuffing on the interior surface. Set of 8 Jeannette carnival glass tumblers
This is a set of 8 vintage iridescent glass tumblers manufactured by Jeannette Glass Company ca 1950. Founded in 1888 as Jeannette Bottle Works in Jeannette, PA, the company changed its name to Jeannette Glass Company and incorporated in 1898. By 1924 it was being described as “one of the most complete automatic factories in the country.” Jeannette introduced colored glass in 1925. These glasses are in Jeannette’s popular amber color and have a spiral pattern that is slightly raised on the glasses’ interiors. They stand 5" tall and have diameters of 2-3/4" at the top and 2-1/4" at the base. All 8 of these beautiful iridescent tumblers are in perfect condition with no nicks, chips, cracks or crazing. They coordinate well with virtually any china pattern and add a lovely sparkle to your table settings. (Click on picture for more images.) Tell a friend.
